Manchester United's Antony claims he has "found himself again" during his impressive loan spell at Real Betis, where he has made an immediate impact with three goals and an assist in just four appearances since joining in January.
The Brazilian winger, who struggled to make his mark at Old Trafford with just one goal in a Carabao Cup match against Barnsley this season, has experienced a remarkable turnaround in form since arriving in Spain. His contribution has been significant from the start, playing a crucial role in the opening goal on his debut before adding three more goals and an assist in subsequent matches.
Despite his previous difficulties in England, Antony maintains a positive perspective on his time at Manchester United. "I have also done very well in Manchester; I won two titles, and I am very grateful," the 24-year-old told AS. "But when I say that here, I have found myself, happiness, the people are like us in Brazil. The sun helps a lot."
The former Ajax star emphasized his mental and physical preparation during his time in England, stating, "When I was in England, I kept working, mentally, physically, very well too. So, I was preparing for this moment and now, I'm very happy to be enjoying and living an incredible moment."
His resurgence at Real Betis has coincided with the club's strong European campaign. The Spanish side is well-positioned to advance to the Europa League last-16, having secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Gent in their play-off first leg. Antony is expected to maintain his position on the right wing for the return fixture against the Belgian side on Thursday.
"The most important thing is that I have found myself again. I am happy to be enjoying myself every day," Antony reflected. "Things go well when we are well, happy, content... I have worked mentally and physically to get to this moment. I am very happy about that."
