The future of Manchester United winger Antony remains uncertain as his agent provides an update on the Brazilian's impressive start at Real Betis. The 24-year-old, who has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford this season, has found new life in Spain since his January loan move.
According to his agent Junior Pedroso, Antony's return to Manchester United remains a possibility, with no definitive decision made beyond the current season. The winger's loan arrangement with Real Betis notably doesn't include an option to buy, and his contract with United extends until 2027.
The Brazilian has already shown promising signs in La Liga, accumulating more playing time in just two appearances than he managed during the first half of the Premier League season. His impact has been immediate, with two goals to his name, including one in the Conference League play-off phase.
Pedroso explained the reasoning behind the January move, stating, "Antony respects [Ruben] Amorim a lot, for sure. But we understood in January that his moment at the club was not good, so Manchester United also understood that leaving on loan was the best way for Antony to recover his best form."
The agent emphasized the dynamic nature of football, suggesting that Antony's story with Manchester United might not be over yet. "There may still be a few more chapters in his story with Manchester United, or there may not be. This will depend on many factors involving decisions by the club and him in the near future," Pedroso told GiveMeSport.
While a strong finish to the season could see Amorim consider integrating Antony into his plans for next season, the manager's tactical preference for versatile wing-backs over traditional wide forwards might influence United's decision to potentially sell the player and reinvest in the transfer market.
