Borussia Dortmund Launches Elite Youth Academy in Hong Kong, Partners with German Swiss International School

German football powerhouse Borussia Dortmund has expanded its global footprint by establishing an elite youth football academy in Hong Kong through a strategic partnership with the German Swiss International School (GSIS). This collaboration marks a significant step in youth football development in the region, bringing Bundesliga-level training methodologies to aspiring young athletes in Hong Kong.

The BVB Evonik Football Academy will be guided by UEFA A-License coach Kai Brock, whose extensive experience in Bundesliga youth academies has helped nurture numerous players who have gone on to compete at football's highest levels. This initiative builds on Borussia Dortmund's renowned reputation for player development and Germany's rich footballing heritage.

As part of the partnership's initial phase, GSIS will launch an exclusive football camp during the Easter break for its students. The program will then expand during the summer to welcome talented young players from across Hong Kong, aiming to elevate the standard of youth football throughout the city.

The academy will implement the elite training methodologies that have produced Bundesliga stars, focusing not only on technical and tactical aspects of football but also instilling core values like discipline, teamwork, and resilience in young players.

GSIS School Principal Alexandra Freigang-Krause expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration: "We are thrilled to collaborate with one of Germany's most iconic football clubs, renowned for its outstanding youth development programmes. Even more importantly, this venture will bring another vibrant aspect of German culture to life at GSIS."

Benjamin Wahl, Managing Director of BVB East Asia, emphasized the significance of this partnership for youth development: "Borussia Dortmund is proud to partner with GSIS in Hong Kong. Both GSIS and BVB have a long, successful and world-famous track record in supporting young children in their development. We will bring our excellent knowledge in youth football development to Hong Kong and it's great to have such a strong partner with GSIS on our side."

Borussia Dortmund's prestigious history includes eight Bundesliga titles, five German Cups, and seven German Super Cups. The club's international achievements feature a UEFA Champions League title, the FIFA Club World Cup (previously the Intercontinental Cup), and the European Cup Winners' Cup.

Through this partnership with GSIS, Dortmund continues its commitment to nurturing young talent while promoting German football culture and values in Hong Kong. As the academy prepares to begin its first training sessions, young footballers across Hong Kong will have a unique opportunity to develop their skills under the guidance of one of football's most respected talent development systems.
