Chelsea's midfield maestro Moises Caicedo has set his sights on maintaining the Blues' position in the Premier League's top four following their crucial comeback victory against West Ham on Monday night at Stamford Bridge.
The London club, who had been experiencing a challenging period with just one win in their previous seven league matches, showed remarkable resilience to overturn Jarrod Bowen's first-half opener. Goals from Pedro Neto and an Aaron Wan-Bissaka own goal secured a vital three points that propelled Chelsea back into Champions League qualification spots.
Caicedo, who earned Player of the Match honors for his commanding performance, emphasized the significance of the team's character in securing the victory. "The most important thing was the performance. The team is happy and we want to continue like this," the Ecuadorian midfielder stated. "The last couple of games have been tough for us but we reacted so well last night and got the three points."
The 22-year-old revealed the impact of the halftime team talk that sparked Chelsea's second-half revival. "We talked between us in the dressing room. We wanted to win this game and then showed our full worth in the second half," Caicedo explained. "The manager said, 'Just be relaxed, we are doing well, the goal is going to come, stick to the plan and we will get the win.'"
Looking ahead to the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, Caicedo outlined the team's ambitions, stating, "It was really important to get back into the top four. We are in the fourth position and we are happy. We want to keep working hard to keep ourselves up there." He added that the victory has provided a crucial boost to the team's confidence as they aim to maintain their position in the Champions League spots.
The Blues will look to build on this momentum when they face Brighton in an FA Cup fourth-round clash this Saturday, with Enzo Maresca's side hoping to progress in multiple competitions this season.
