Bayern Munich's star left-back Alphonso Davies has put an end to speculation about his future by agreeing to a new contract that will keep him at the German champions until 2030. The deal represents a significant commitment from both parties, extending his stay at the Allianz Arena for four and a half more years.
The 24-year-old Canadian international, who had been the subject of intense interest from Real Madrid and several Premier League clubs as his previous contract approached its June 2025 expiration, has chosen to continue his journey with the Bundesliga giants.
"I am very happy to have extended my contract at this great club," Davies expressed following the announcement. "I came to FC Bayern when I was 18 and just wanted to learn as much as possible every day to become one of the best in my position. Now I'm looking forward to another five years together. I've already achieved a lot here, but there's more to come."
Since joining Bayern from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019, Davies has established himself as one of football's premier full-backs, collecting an impressive haul of five Bundesliga titles. He was also instrumental in Bayern's 2020 Champions League triumph, cementing his status as a key figure in the team's success.
The current season has seen Davies make 25 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and three assists. However, he is presently sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained during a Champions League match against Feyenoord last month, with the club expecting him to remain out for at least another month.
Bayern's successful retention of Davies comes at a crucial time as they seek to reclaim their domestic crown. Currently leading the Bundesliga table under Vincent Kompany's management, they hold a six-point advantage over Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen, who made history last season by securing their first-ever league title at Bayern's expense.
The contract extension represents a significant coup for Bayern Munich, securing the long-term future of one of their most valuable assets and maintaining their status as one of Europe's elite clubs.
