Deeney's Premier League Team of the Week: Foden Shines, Kluivert Hat-trick Stuns Newcastle

BBC football pundit Troy Deeney has unveiled his Premier League Team of the Week, highlighting standout performances across the latest round of matches, featuring an impressive mix of established stars and emerging talents.

Manchester City's Ederson gets the nod between the posts, with Deeney emphasizing the importance of the goalkeeper's clean sheet in their 6-0 victory, particularly noting his recent challenging period.

The defensive line showcases Aston Villa's Matty Cash, who proved instrumental in their comeback against Arsenal, providing a crucial assist for Ollie Watkins. Crystal Palace's Chris Richards stepped up admirably following Trevoh Chalobah's departure to Chelsea, while Joachim Andersen continues to impress at Fulham, prompting Deeney to question Palace's decision to let him go. Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez rounds out the defense, with Deeney praising his exceptional engine and goal-scoring ability.

In midfield, Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai earned recognition for his excellent performance against Brentford, displaying growing comfort in Arne Slot's system and nearly scoring what Deeney described as "one of the best strikes I have ever seen." Aston Villa's Youri Tielemans also made the cut after netting an impressive goal against Arsenal, while Bournemouth's Justin Kluivert earned plaudits for his remarkable hat-trick against Newcastle, with Deeney specifically praising the precision of his finishes.

The attack features Manchester City's Phil Foden, who continues to shine with multiple goals and assists in recent games, showing signs of returning to his best form. Everton's Iliman Ndiaye earned recognition for his excellent display against Tottenham, while Liverpool's Darwin Nunez rounds out the team following what Deeney called "the best cameo I have seen in a long time" against Brentford, featuring two quality finishes despite nearly being sent off.

Deeney also gave an honorable mention to Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta for his double against West Ham, while naming Leicester City's Enzo Maresca as manager of the week for navigating a crucial victory at a time of mounting pressure.
