Manchester City has reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign their top scorer Omar Marmoush in a deal worth €80 million ($82 million), as revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Friday. The Premier League champions will pay €75 million upfront with an additional €5 million in add-ons.
The Egyptian forward is set for a remarkable wage increase upon joining the Cityzens. According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Marmoush will see his annual salary skyrocket from his current €2 million gross to €16 million gross (€10 million net) at Manchester City. The striker has agreed to a long-term contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2029.
Following the transfer agreement, Eintracht Frankfurt made the decision to exclude Marmoush from their matchday squad for Friday's Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund. Despite his absence, Frankfurt managed to secure a convincing 2-0 victory.
The signing comes at a crucial time for Manchester City, who have been seeking to bolster their attacking options following Julian Alvarez's departure to Atletico Madrid last summer. The move will provide much-needed support for Erling Haaland, who has been carrying the goalscoring responsibility alone, having started all 27 of City's matches in both the Premier League and Champions League this season.
Manchester City's next fixture is scheduled for Sunday, where they will face Ipswich in an away Premier League encounter. The addition of Marmoush is expected to significantly strengthen their attacking lineup as they continue their campaign on multiple fronts.
