Manchester United loanee Antony has made an immediate impact at Real Betis, scoring his first goal for the LaLiga side in Saturday's match against Celta Vigo while earning MVP honors for the second consecutive game.
The Brazilian winger, who joined Betis on loan until the end of the season, opened the scoring in the 10th minute at Balaídos with an impressive display of skill. After controlling the ball with his right foot, he shifted to his left before delivering a clinical finish from inside the box.
Despite Antony's contribution and defender Diego Llorente adding a second goal before halftime to double Betis' lead, the Seville-based club ultimately suffered a 3-2 defeat.
The 24-year-old's performance builds on his strong debut last weekend in a 2-2 draw against Athletic Club, where he was also named MVP. This early success marks a promising start for the player who became Manchester United's second most expensive signing after his £80 million ($97.3m) transfer from Ajax in 2022, trailing only Paul Pogba in the club's transfer history.
Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has expressed confidence in Antony's abilities, stating before Saturday's game, "I was delighted with his first game. He is someone who is refinding his confidence because he has the quality, that's why [United] paid so much for him. He was really young at the time, though, and I think he is more mature now and ready to show why he cost so much, because he has bags of talent."
While Antony's loan at Betis runs until the season's end, his long-term future remains tied to Manchester United, where his contract extends until 2027 with an option for an additional year until 2028.
