Manchester United's Tyrell Malacia is set to make a return to his homeland after completing a loan move to PSV Eindhoven, with the Dutch club securing an option for a permanent transfer.
The Dutch full-back's proposed move to Benfica fell through last week after the Red Devils failed to reach terms with the Portuguese side, according to Voetbal International. The initial discussions had centered around a six-month loan arrangement, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
PSV Eindhoven stepped in to secure Malacia's services, agreeing to cover his full salary for the remainder of the season. The deal includes a €10 million (£8m) non-mandatory purchase option, with Manchester United retaining a 30 percent sell-on clause in any future transfer.
Malacia's time at Old Trafford has been particularly challenging since his arrival from Feyenoord in 2022. The Netherlands international has struggled with persistent physical issues, which resulted in him missing the entirety of last season due to injury.
In anticipation of Malacia's departure, Manchester United have already secured his replacement. The club has confirmed the acquisition of 20-year-old left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in a deal worth £25m ($31m/€30m), with an additional £4m ($5m/€4.8m) in potential add-ons.
