Major League Soccer is set to introduce a groundbreaking weekly primetime series called 'Sunday Night Soccer' during the 2025 season, marking a significant expansion of its programming partnership with Apple TV.
The innovative initiative will feature regular Sunday evening matches complemented by comprehensive pre- and post-match coverage. The broadcast will showcase the network's premier commentators delivering content in both English and Spanish, ensuring a diverse viewing experience for fans across different language preferences.
This development comes as Apple and MLS enter the third year of their groundbreaking $2.5 billion, ten-year broadcast rights agreement. The partnership's scope continues to grow, with the platform now including coverage of Leagues Cup and select MLS NEXT Pro matches, providing fans with expanded access to professional soccer content.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber shared his enthusiasm for the new programming schedule, stating, "Our partnership with Apple has redefined how fans experience Major League Soccer, bringing the league to more people around the world than ever before." He further emphasized the significance of the upcoming season, adding, "With the addition of 'Sunday Night Soccer' a new studio, and the debut of Onside: Major League Soccer on Apple TV+, 2025 will be our best season yet. We couldn't be more excited about the future of our partnership with Apple."
The inaugural 'Sunday Night Soccer' broadcast is scheduled for February 23, following the regular season's commencement the previous day. Teams across the league have already begun their preseason preparations, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting new chapter in American soccer broadcasting.
