Marcus Rashford hasn't given up hope on his Manchester United career despite being sidelined since mid-December, as speculation mounts over his future at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old forward hasn't featured for United since being substituted in their Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen on December 12. His training performances subsequently came under scrutiny from head coach Ruben Amorim, leading to his extended absence from the first team.
Since then, Rashford has made just one appearance on the bench, remaining unused during United's 3-0 home defeat to Newcastle on December 30. The situation intensified following Sunday's 3-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford, where Amorim's cryptic comment that "it's his choice" fueled speculation about Rashford's commitment to the team.
However, club sources have clarified that Amorim's comments were misinterpreted, suggesting the former Sporting boss was merely emphasizing that Rashford's future lies in his own hands. Sources close to the player have emphasized that Rashford remains eager to play for United and maintains no significant issues with Amorim, expressing willingness to contribute if called upon.
While several European clubs have shown interest in securing Rashford's services, a loan move before the February transfer window deadline appears increasingly likely. The extent of Rashford's involvement in first-team training during his exile from Amorim's matchday squad remains unclear.
The situation may gain more clarity on Wednesday when media cameras are permitted to film the first 15 minutes of United's pre-match training session at Carrington ahead of their crucial Europa League clash with Rangers. Both teams currently occupy top-eight positions, with United sitting seventh on 12 points and Rangers just a point behind in eighth place. However, with 17th-placed Plzen only three points adrift and two games remaining, neither club has secured even a play-off spot.
