Torino have reached a breakthrough in negotiations with Chelsea for the signing of promising midfielder Cesare Casadei, with a €15 million package agreed between the two clubs. The deal includes a 25% sell-on clause that would benefit Chelsea in any future transfer.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea initially sought €25 million for the Italian youngster but gradually lowered their demands to €15 million. The London club had pushed for a 40% sell-on clause during negotiations but ultimately settled for a reduced percentage to facilitate the transfer.
The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Inter Milan's academy in 2022 for €20 million, has struggled to establish himself in English football. Despite his significant price tag, Casadei has remained on the fringes of the first team under manager Enzo Maresca this season.
The Italy Under-21 international is now poised to make his first professional appearance in his homeland, having never played senior football in Serie A. Reports indicate that Casadei underwent his medical examination in Turin on Friday, suggesting the transfer's formal announcement is imminent.
For 10th-placed Torino, Casadei's arrival represents a significant coup. The move could prove beneficial for the player's development, offering regular first-team opportunities that could potentially lead to consideration for Italy's senior national team. The transfer marks the end of Casadei's brief spell in west London, where earlier attempts to secure his services by Lazio had previously fallen through.
